This year marked the 21st consecutive time that Providence received the Society of Thoracic Surgeons’ “Highest Rated Award” of 3 stars. The measure is based on quality comparisons of cardiac surgery among all hospitals that report data on their outcomes. Ninety-four percent of all heart programs in the country submit to this review, and only 15% of those 1,000 heart programs receive this rating. Providence has received the full 3 stars every time since the rating’s first inception. In fact, we challenge you to find another cardiac program in the Southeast to have achieved the same.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services awarded Providence Health a 4-star rating, which is the highest rank issued to any Columbia health care entity. The CMS ratings are available through its Hospital Compare website. The average national rating was three stars. Providence Health's 4-star ranking is yet another national third-party acknowledgement of our high quality care.
